Text Cleaner
Paste messy text from a PDF, a web page, an email or an AI chat and get it back tidy: broken lines rejoined, hidden characters, stray HTML and extra spaces removed, with a report of every change and not a word rewritten.

What happens to your file.
Everything runs in your browser, so the text is never uploaded. Each step is structural and counted: HTML tags and entities, hidden characters, unusual spaces, doubled spaces, blank lines, and lines a PDF broke mid-sentence. Rejoining lines uses the text’s own typical line length, so a short heading or the last line of a paragraph stays on its own line and list items stay separate. Typographic punctuation and emoji are only changed when you ask. The report lists exactly what changed, with the characters, words and lines before and after.
Where it stops: This tidies structure, spacing and hidden characters, not meaning: spelling, grammar and wording are never changed. Rejoining broken lines is judged from line lengths, so check the result on text with an unusual layout such as poetry or tables.
Which starting point to choose
| Text from | What it fixes | What it leaves alone |
|---|---|---|
| Pasted text | Hidden characters, unusual spaces, doubled spaces and extra blank lines | Line breaks, punctuation and emoji |
| A PDF | The same, plus lines broken mid-sentence and words split by a hyphen | Headings, list items and paragraph breaks |
| A web page or HTML | The same, plus tags, scripts, styles and entities such as & | The visible text and its paragraphs |
| Plain punctuation | The same, plus curly quotes, long dashes, ellipses and bullets | Letters, numbers and wording |
Why text copied from a PDF breaks mid-sentence
A PDF stores each printed line on its own, with no record of where a paragraph starts or ends, so copying it gives a hard line break at the end of every line. Rejoining looks at how long the lines usually are: a line that runs close to the usual width carried on to the next one, while a noticeably shorter line ended its paragraph.
What people use it for.
Everything you need, without a paywall.
Common questions.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The cleaning runs entirely in your browser, including files you drop in, so the text never leaves your device.
How do I fix line breaks in text copied from a PDF?
Choose “Copied from a PDF”. Lines broken mid-sentence are joined back into paragraphs and words split with a hyphen at a line end are mended, while headings, list items and blank lines between paragraphs stay where they are.
Will it change my wording?
No. By default only spacing, line breaks, markup and invisible characters change. Quotes, dashes, ellipses, bullets and emoji are only converted or removed if you switch that on.
What are invisible characters and why do they matter?
Zero-width spaces, soft hyphens, direction marks and hidden tag characters take up no width but are stored in the text. They survive copy and paste and break search, comparisons, word counts and code.
Can I put everything on one line?
Yes. Turn on “Put everything on one line” and every line break becomes a space.
Can I clean several files at once?
Yes. Drop up to 50 text files; each is cleaned with the same settings and they download together as a ZIP.
