When you need this

What people use it for.

Fixing a heading that arrived in SHOUTING CAPITALS
Turning a list of names into consistent title case
Converting a label into camelCase or snake_case for code
Tidying text pasted out of a PDF where the capitalisation went wrong
How it works

What happens to your file.

Everything happens in your browser with a local converter: what you paste is never uploaded or stored. Sentence case capitalises the first letter of each sentence and of each line, so a list keeps its capitals while a paragraph gets none scattered through it. Title case capitalises words while leaving short joining words such as of, and and the in lower case, except at the start, at the end and after a colon. In mixed text, a word in capitals such as NASA or PDF is an acronym and a word with an inner capital such as iPhone is a name, and both are kept; sentence case also keeps the English pronoun I. The code styles split on spaces, hyphens, underscores and existing capital letters, acronyms included (XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request), one line at a time, so a list of names converts in one go. CONSTANT_CASE, inverted and alternating case are there too, and Turkish text is cased with the Turkish rules for i and ı.

Where it stops: Capitalisation rules are language-specific and these follow English conventions, so title case on another language will not always match its house style. A proper noun written in lower case cannot be recognised, so sentence case will not capitalise paris, and when the whole text is in capitals there is no way to tell an acronym from an ordinary word. Check anything where the original capitalisation carried meaning.

Questions

Common questions.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so what you paste never leaves your computer and is not stored.

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalises most words in a line. Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence, which is what you want for a paragraph.

Will it keep acronyms capitalised?

Yes, in title and sentence case when the rest of the text is in lower or mixed case: NASA, PDF and iPhone stay as written. If the whole text is in capitals nothing can be told apart, so everything is converted.

Can I convert between camelCase and snake_case?

Yes. Names are split on spaces, hyphens, underscores and capital letters, so any of the code styles converts to any other.
