Markdown to HTML

Convert Markdown into HTML for publishing, previews, documentation, and CMS fields. Headings, lists, links, code blocks, and tables become actual HTML instead of pasted plain text. It is free, needs no account, and adds no watermark to your result.

How it works

What happens to your file.

Markdown is converted with the same engine as Markdown to Word: headings, emphasis, links, images, nested and numbered lists, task lists as check boxes, tables, strikethrough, block quotes, and fenced code blocks that keep their language for syntax highlighters. Headings get anchors, so a link to #installation lands on that section, and README tags such as <kbd>, <br>, and <details> stay markup. Front matter at the top of a post is not text: its title becomes the page title. Tick Full HTML page for a complete page with a title and readable styles; otherwise you get the fragment to paste into a CMS. It runs in your browser.

Where it stops: Markdown variants differ, so platform-specific extensions (Notion callouts, Obsidian links, footnotes) may not render exactly as they do there. Other raw HTML, such as a <div> with attributes or a <script>, is shown as text rather than run, which keeps the result safe to publish.

Questions

Common questions.

Does it make a full HTML page?

Yes, if you tick Full HTML page: you get a complete document with a title, taken from front matter or the first heading, and readable styles. Untick it for the fragment to paste into a CMS or a template.

Are links preserved?

Yes. Markdown links become anchor tags with the same address, in-page links such as #setup included; a javascript: link or another unsafe scheme is left as text.

Can I convert HTML back to Markdown?

Use a dedicated HTML-to-Markdown workflow when you need the reverse direction.
