HTML to Word Converter

Turn HTML into a real, editable Word document — headings, lists, tables, links, bold and italic all become proper Word constructs, not flat text. No address in your HTML is ever fetched.

How it works

What happens to your file.

The HTML is parsed into a document structure and each element is mapped onto its Word equivalent: h1 to h6 become the matching heading styles, ul and ol become Word list numbering with real nesting levels, tables become Word tables with the header row marked to repeat, and inline tags become run formatting. Links become hyperlink relationships. Text that sits directly in a div, section or layout table cell is gathered into paragraphs rather than lost, comments and scripts are left out, and the file is decoded by the character set it declares, so a page Word saved in windows-1252 keeps its accents and curly quotes. Process file also marks Arabic and Hebrew paragraphs right to left and embeds data: pictures in WebP by converting them to PNG. The result is written as a complete OOXML package — styles, numbering definitions, content types and relationships — so Word opens it without a repair prompt.

Where it stops: CSS is not carried across, because Word and CSS have different layout models: the document takes its appearance from Word styles instead, which is what makes it editable rather than a picture of a web page. Pictures referenced by a web address are deliberately not downloaded — see the security note below. SVG and WebP cannot go into a Word document and are reported rather than silently dropped.

Why pictures at a web address are not downloaded

If this tool fetched every URL in the HTML you gave it, anyone could paste a document that makes our servers request an address of their choosing — including addresses inside a private network. That is a well-known class of vulnerability, and the safe answer is not to fetch at all. Pictures already embedded in the source as data are used; pictures at an address are listed in the report with their alt text kept in place, so you know exactly what to add in Word.

Questions

Common questions.

How do I convert HTML to a Word document?

Paste the HTML into the box or drop a .html file, check the outline of what will be in the document, then use Convert to Word. The .docx downloads and opens in Word, Pages or Google Docs.

Will my CSS styling be preserved?

No. Structure maps to Word styles, and appearance comes from those styles. That is deliberate: a document styled by Word is editable, whereas a pixel copy of a web page is not.

Do tables convert properly?

Yes. Standard tables become real Word tables with borders, a header row marked to repeat across pages, and merged cells where colspan is used. A table nested inside another is flattened, and the report says so.

Are images included?

Images embedded in the source as data are included, sized correctly and scaled down if wider than the page. Images at a web address are never downloaded, for security; the report lists them and keeps their alt text.

Is my content uploaded?

Not with the visual editor, which converts in your browser. Process file sends the HTML to our server, where it is written to a temporary folder for that request and deleted as soon as the job finishes. Either way, no address in your HTML is ever requested.

Can I convert an e-mail template or a page saved from Word?

Yes. Text inside layout tables and bare divs is kept, Word’s Office-only markup is left out, and pages saved in older character sets such as windows-1252 keep their accented letters and curly quotes.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Drop up to 20 HTML files and the download becomes a ZIP with one .docx per file.

What happens to scripts and forms?

They are removed. A Word document cannot run a script or submit a form, and the report tells you how many were left out.
