Getting a printed-to-PDF deck back into an editable shape
How it works

What happens to your file.

Each page becomes one slide at the matching size, so the deck keeps its proportions rather than arriving letterboxed. Where a page carries a real text layer, the text is rebuilt as text boxes you can click into and retype, positioned where it sat on the page. The rest of the page, its images and drawn elements, is placed on the slide beneath that text so nothing visually disappears.

Where it stops: This recovers content, not construction. You get slides that look right and text you can edit, but not the original master slides, layouts, placeholders or animations, because none of that survives into a PDF to be recovered. A scanned PDF has no text layer at all, so its pages arrive as images: run it through PDF OCR first if you need to edit the words.

Questions

Common questions.

How do I convert a PDF to PowerPoint for free?

Upload the PDF and download the PPTX. No account, no watermark, no slide limit.

Will the text be editable?

Where the PDF has a real text layer, yes: it is rebuilt as text boxes you can click into. A scanned PDF has no text to rebuild, so run it through PDF OCR first.

Do I get the original layouts and masters back?

No. Those are not stored in a PDF, so there is nothing to recover. You get slides that look right, not the deck’s original structure.

Why does my slide look like one flat image?

Because that page had no text layer, which usually means it was scanned or exported as images. OCR it first to get editable text.
