How it works

What happens to your file.

Selecting pages marks them for removal; the new PDF is written from the pages that remain, copied exactly as they were. Bookmarks that point at pages you keep follow them to their new numbers, form fields on those pages can still be filled in, and links to deleted pages are dropped, so the deleted pages are really gone from the file instead of travelling along hidden, and the file shrinks. Nothing is deleted from your original file, which is only ever read: the result is a new document you download.

Where it stops: A table of contents printed on a page is text, so it still lists a page that is no longer there; the PDF’s own bookmarks are updated. A PDF protected by a password, or by restrictions on printing and copying, has to go through Unlock PDF first, and at least one page must be left.

Questions

Common questions.

How do I delete pages from a PDF?

Click the pages to remove, or type them as a range, then save. The download contains everything except those pages.

Does it change my original file?

No. The original is read only; you get a new PDF with the pages removed.

Can I remove every page?

No, a PDF needs at least one page. Leave one unselected, or use a different tool if you want an empty document.

Does the file get smaller?

Yes. The deleted pages, and the pictures and fonts only they used, are left out of the new file, so removing a heavy page makes the download lighter.

Is my document uploaded?

No. Pages are read and rewritten in your browser.
