How it works

What happens to your file.

The pages you select are copied into a new PDF in your browser, in the order you list them, so 3-1 gives them reversed. Copying keeps everything about those pages: selectable text, links, form fields you can still fill in, embedded fonts, image quality, and the bookmarks that point at them. Links to pages you did not take are removed, rather than carrying those pages along hidden inside the file, which used to leave a one-page extract as heavy as the whole report. The original file is never changed and never uploaded.

Where it stops: Links that pointed to pages you did not take are removed, since there is nothing left for them to lead to. A PDF protected by a password, or by restrictions on printing and copying, has to go through Unlock PDF first; one that opens without a password needs none there.

Questions

Common questions.

How do I extract pages from a PDF?

Click the pages you want, or type a range such as 1-3, 8, then save. You get one PDF containing exactly those pages.

Can I extract pages that are not next to each other?

Yes. Select any combination, or write them as a list: 1, 4, 9-12.

Can I change the page order while extracting?

Yes. Pages come out in the order you type them, so 5, 2, 9 gives page 5 first, and 3-1 gives the first three pages reversed.

Are bookmarks and form fields kept?

Yes. Bookmarks that point at the pages you take come along, pointing at their new page numbers, and form fields on those pages can still be filled in.

Is the original changed?

No. The original is only read; a new PDF is written with the pages you chose.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The extraction happens in your browser.
