Attaching a budget to an application that only accepts PDF
Printing a wide table without it breaking across pages at random
Archiving a monthly report in a format that will still open in ten years
How it works

What happens to your file.

Each sheet you select is laid out at the page size and orientation you choose, and the column widths are scaled so the full width of the table lands inside the page rather than running off it. Formulas are rendered as the values they currently evaluate to, since a PDF holds no calculation engine. Cell formatting, borders and number formats are carried across as they appear in the sheet.

Where it stops: A PDF is a picture of the spreadsheet, not the spreadsheet: formulas become their results and nothing recalculates afterwards. A sheet far wider than it is tall will be shrunk to fit, so check it is still readable before sending, and consider landscape. Charts and images anchored to cells are placed where they sit, but very complex conditional formatting may simplify.

Questions

Common questions.

How do I convert Excel to PDF for free?

Upload the workbook, pick the sheets and the orientation, and download the PDF. No account and no watermark.

Can I convert only one sheet?

Yes. Select the sheets you want and the rest are left out of the PDF entirely.

Why is my table so small?

Because the columns were fitted to the page width. A wide table shrinks to fit; switching to landscape usually gives it room to breathe.

Do my formulas still work in the PDF?

No. They are rendered as their current results. A PDF cannot recalculate, so keep the workbook if you need the formulas.
