Add Header & Footer to PDF

Add consistent header and footer text across a PDF that was exported without one: a document title, a case reference, a confidentiality notice or a department name. Control the page range, alignment and font size. It is free, needs no account, and adds no watermark to your result.

When you need this

What people use it for.

Stamping a confidentiality or draft notice across a document set
Adding a case or project reference to every page of a filing
Labelling exported slides or reports that came out with no running header
How it works

What happens to your file.

The text you supply is drawn into the header or footer area of each selected page as ordinary page content, with the alignment and font size you choose. Existing content is not moved.

Where it stops: Text is drawn on top rather than reflowing the page, so on documents with no margin it can overlap. Add margins first if your pages run to the edge.

Questions

Common questions.

Can I apply it to only some pages?

Yes. Set a page range, which is the usual approach when a cover page should stay clean.

What if the text overlaps my content?

The header is drawn on top rather than pushing content down. If your pages have no margin, run Add Margins to PDF first to create clear space.

Can I include automatic page numbers?

Use Add Page Numbers for sequential numbering, or Bates Number PDF when you need a prefix and padded sequence.
