Add Margins to PDF

Add white space around the edge of every page without shrinking the content. This gives you room for binding, hole punching, annotation or a stamp, on documents that were exported with no margin at all. It is free, needs no account, and adds no watermark to your result.

When you need this

What people use it for.

Preparing a document for spiral or comb binding that would otherwise eat the text
Making room for handwritten notes in the margin of a printed copy
Creating clear space for a Bates stamp or header on edge-to-edge pages
How it works

What happens to your file.

The page canvas is enlarged by the margin you specify on each side and the original content is placed within it, so the content keeps its size and proportions instead of being scaled down.

Questions

Common questions.

Does my text get smaller?

No. The page itself grows and your content keeps its original size. That is the difference between adding margins and scaling a page down.

Will the page still print on A4?

The page becomes larger than the original, so set your printer to fit-to-page, or use Change PDF Page Size afterwards to normalise it.

Can I add a margin to only one side?

Yes. Each side is set independently, which is what you want for binding along a single edge.
