When you need this

What people use it for.

Copying text out of a screenshot instead of retyping it
Extracting text from a photographed page, sign, receipt or whiteboard
Reading text from an image in a language your device cannot select or copy
How it works

What happens to your file.

The image is corrected for rotation, skew and uneven lighting, then recognised by Tesseract 5 using the language matching the detected script. Maximum accuracy mode also tries extra cleanup, dark-background recovery and alternate layouts when the first pass is weak. All processing happens on our own server; no external OCR service is involved and the temporary processing workspace is removed after processing.

Where it stops: Handwriting is not reliably recognised. Blurry photos, low contrast, heavy glare and text at a sharp angle all reduce accuracy, because the engine needs clean, roughly level text.

Questions

Common questions.

Does this work for Arabic and other non-Latin scripts?

Yes. Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Devanagari, Tamil, Thai, Cyrillic, Greek and many more are all included, and the correct one is selected automatically from the script.

Can it read handwriting?

Not reliably. This is trained on printed and typed text. Neat block capitals sometimes work, but cursive generally does not.

Is my image sent to Google or another OCR service?

No. Recognition runs on our own server with no external provider, no API key and no account. The temporary processing workspace is removed after processing.

How do I get better results?

Photograph the text square-on rather than at an angle, get even lighting without glare, and fill the frame with the text. Resolution matters more than anything else.
