Add Border to Image
Add a clean border around an image so it stands out on white pages, product grids, documents, slides or social posts. Borders are especially useful for screenshots, white product photos and graphics whose edge blends into the page background. It is free, needs no account, and adds no watermark to your result.

What happens to your file.
The canvas is expanded around the original image and the added area is filled with the border colour and width you choose. The source image is kept centered inside the new frame, so none of the original pixels are cropped. A thin border separates the image from the surrounding page; a thick border creates a framed or poster-like look.
Where it stops: A border changes the final pixel dimensions. If a platform requires an exact size, add the border before final resizing or choose dimensions carefully. A very thick border can make the subject feel smaller, and JPG output will flatten any transparency against the chosen background.
Choosing a border
| Situation | Good starting point |
|---|---|
| White product photo on a white page | 1-3 percent light gray border |
| Screenshot in documentation | Thin neutral border, then optional shadow in Screenshot Beautifier |
| Social post or thumbnail | Thicker brand-colour frame |
| Transparent PNG logo | Export as PNG or WebP to keep transparency |
Border versus padding
A border is visible and meant to be seen. Padding is empty space used to fit a required canvas size. If you need both, add padding or resize first, then choose a border width that still leaves the subject large enough.
What people use it for.
Everything you need, without a paywall.
Common questions.
Does it crop the image?
No. The canvas grows around the image.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Choose the border colour and width.
Will it affect aspect ratio?
The visible image stays the same, but the overall canvas shape can change depending on border width.
Should I add a border before or after resizing?
If the final dimensions matter, add the border first and then resize to the required output size.
